Hello
Just found this forum
I am interested in the EG4 mini split heat pump just wondering if anyone in Canada is using them? I am on the east coast of Canada (Prince Edward Island and I house /property faces due south any help would be greatly appreciated
The company I was talking to said I would get 6-405-455watt solar panels to run it.what’s everyone’s thoughts on that seems high as I am seeing videos on YouTube of them running on like 200watts of solar

I'm in the Vancouver area and installed a 12K hybrid unit last summer using 8x200W panels and plugged into the secondary output of my Victron Multiplus that turns off the AC when the batteries get below 87%.
My cottage is south facing, but there's a mountain across the bay that blocks the winter sun for most of the morning. At the solstice the sun comes out from behind the ridge at noon. Right now at the equinox, it clears the ridge just after 10am and is below the mountains in the west by 4pm.

Vancouver is quite mild in the winter and rains a lot, but the mini-split has kept the place, at minimum, a couple of degrees C above ambient and on sunny days at least 5 degrees C.

Here's the link to the VRM portal for the cabin - you can look at the last 3 months data from there, including inside and ambient temperatures.

I've been quite pleased with it, and although it won't replace my wood stove, it will reduce the the amount of wood I need to cut a year.

Also been looking into racking for the panels and mixed up on what to do should I build out of wood or go buy the metal ones
What’s everyone’s thoughts
I am seeing next ideas when u google and on YouTube
