Signature Solar was made aware of an issue on November 4th regarding the battery charger we sold. A link to the thread is here and here.

The issue: The 48v 25a EG4 Battery charger was consistently measured as only outputting 17-18a by multiple customers and by staff on premises at Signature Solar.
Results: We began testing multiple units from several different shipments over the course of the last 30 days. During that time, we were able to pinpoint a specific run of chargers that did not output the stated amperage. Upon further research, a small batch of chargers was discovered to have been mismarked at the manufacturing location and was included in the shipment of 25a chargers.

Solution: Signature Solar wants to ensure that every customer is 100% satisfied with the product they have purchased from us. Over the course of testing we have decided to offer 2 options. If you have a charger that was sold and is labeled as a 48v 25a by EG4 that you purchased from Signature Solar, and you believe it is not outputting the correct amperage, we will offer you either of the following choices:

1. Keep the charger you received and we will credit you $50.
2. Exchange the charger with a new one (we should receive these the first week of March) at no additional cost to you. We will 100% cover shipping both ways.

Please share this message with anyone who has been effected and feel free to tag them in the comments. We are also attempting to go through all our orders over the last several weeks and identify people who purchased these - but unfortunately this batch was mixed in with a pallet of fully operational units so this will be difficult.

To those affected, email customerservice@signaturesolar.com with the following information:
-Name
-Order Number
-Picture of the bottom of your charger that shows the serial number

Thanks to everyone on this forum and elsewhere for helping us pinpoint this issue and get a resolution. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the feedback you provide!

I figured it was a manufacturer mistake.
Yea, unfortunately I was the one who pulled the short straw and sat with multiple of these and clamp meters, with the logs pulled up and measuring trying to find out what was going on. As fun as it sounds, watching 24000 lines of activity be generated (logs can only be generated in groups of 400 lines per read in roughly 5 minute intervals) was a little tedious. Those 4 minutes of freedom between each pull kept me sane.

Unfortunately, the Customer Service at SS is singing a different tune:
"Due to miscommunication between the manufacturer and us we will no longer carry the 48V 25A chargers. I do apologize for this inconvenience.
With that said, we have 2 solutions you can choose from.
1) Keep the 48V 18A chargers, we will issue you a refund for the price difference.(48V25A$259.99 - 48V18A$199=$60.99) On top of that we will issue you a $50 credit to use on a future purchase.
2) Return the chargers and receive a full refund less the shipping cost to you."

And then I got another email saying that because I got the chargers at a discounted price, I will only get $40.87 refund.
Upon finishing replying to not do that, because I didn’t agree with that amount, I saw the emails saying that I was refunded $40.87.

Do you have a range of serial numbers identified? Mine was shipped on 1/20/22.

It seems that they're all 900W chargers, that won't charge with more than 17A, and they can't get 25A chargers from the manufacturer.

they are 17-18 amps when the voltage is at 56-58v for a split minute or so near the end of the charge, but really 14-16 amp most of the time when they are at 49-52v, the bulk of where all the charging is done. this why in the manual it states 16 amp, the average you will see.

Then it seems that the "30 years experience EE" from the SS didn't read the manual , because they advertise it to be a 25A charger, and upon inquiring why the charger didn't output 25A, he told me that it was because of the " BMS in the charger" , and " send it back if you don't like it"
And now they're trying to save pennies, after I make them $15,000.00 worth of sales, because I was naive enough to believe in them, and now I am sure that I have $15,000.00 of hardware with no support from the seller.

My charger from Signature Solar does output a solid 900 Watts plus when its working. But I do find a small problem with it. It stops charging and turns off at about 54v. Now that I have my panels installed I see higher voltage’s and amprerage’s from my Victron charge controller.

It’s is better then nothing for me at least I have something at this point. The reason I say this is because I purchased new 2022 Magnum 4448-PAE and it’s not working correctly also. So I pay $259.00 for a charger that don’t work correctly not that big of deal. But I pay 5k for a inverter/load center that don’t work now I’m pissed!

How can I help? I’d like to make sure you are happy. Let me know what I can do and if it’s possible I’ll do it.

Here's kind of what I expect. A shipping label email to me with RA number. I take it to shipping place. Have it sent out. About a week later. A product with the specifications that I bought comes in the mail.
Not my fault that it's the wrong product and don't live up to the expectations of the specifications. With that said why do I have to pay for it for somebody else's f up? I didn't screw up. If you want to blame me. I guess you can blame me for who I bought it from.

I am afraid that there is nothing that you can do. It seems that no matter how hard you're trying to help them look good, you're not in charge there, and everybody else does whatever they want, maybe even taking pleasure in sabotaging your efforts.
EDIT:
I am a happy person.
After I spent $15,000.00 on products from SS, $350 worth of chargers are a drop in the ocean .
I understand that the Chinese supplier is at fault, but what I can't understand is why every time I contacted SS Customer Service I got a lot of BS, and ridiculous explanations.
