Find the +5v line, ground and all that's left is rs485 a and b

I can tell you from my testing over the weekend that White and Black (1/2) are RS485 A/B and Blue and Red (3/4) are power.

Makes sense tho, only the blue and red are doubled going to 2 pins each

Red = no idea what (not ground)
Blue = +5v relative to actual ground
White = RS485 A
Black = RS485 B

tested on 18kpv, not 6000xp

I have that same adaptor - no dice. After carefully reading the tread - going to try again with the dongle pulled.

Will try the INV485 port once I wire it back up. Tried using the "G" connection terminals.

I tested with Amazon HDMI adapter, and it works. PINs are:

RS485 A - HDMI PIN 15
RS485 B - HDMI PIN 14

Yep for the 6000xp it shares the same bus so you can use this or the eth port

So I was wondering if something like this would work for splitting the bus so wifi dongle and SA could work at same time on 6000xp. Looks interesting.

The "cheap" one I posted earlier (ASIN B00NKAJGZM) - not so great. It would function for a little bit, then stop working, and I need to physically unplug it and plug back in order to get it working again.

By the way, I wonder if some of the issues reported here with solar assistant are caused by the same problem.

There are indeed a wide range of quality and reliability in these cheap converters.

Got it!

It’s the plugged CT1 terminal with pins 7 and 8. 7 is RS485 B and 8 is A (at least that works in my testing).

Happy to report SA latest beta is working like a champ on my 3 EG4-6000's. Using the 485toUSB adapters, pins 7&8, and connector CT1 !!!! Thanks everyone for the info ! Yippee no more wi-fi dongles !!!!!!!!!!!!!
