Hoping someone has a similar setup that can help, using a EG4 6000xp with EVE cells in 16S with a JK BMS.

I connected to the EG4 monitoring center with the dongle, both PV arrays are showing 320 volts, but only 15 watts are coming into the battery (which is showing a red battery icon with a ! ) on the main screen, BMS limit charge/discharge are 0, BMS charge/discharge are forbidden, and BMS force charge is off. I have 2 event notices, one is W027: battery open, and the other is W000:communication failure with battery. On the 6000xp, i have it set to Li-ion with battery brand on number 6. I only got the RS 485 connector with the JK BMS, with 3 wires at the end that would connect to the EG4, my understanding is you can buy another circuit board that would connect to that and then the Can/cat 5 into the EG4, but I shouldnt have to do that to get a charge going into the batteries, correct? The JK BMS interface shows a total of 52.66 volts, with ~3.292 on each cell, the top part of the screen says charge: on, discharge :on, balance:0ff, (which should be on since on the control tab i have balance enabled). What am I missing?

, i have it set to Li-ion
This setting is only for when you have BMS communication with the 6kxp.
Without closed loop you need to set it to lead acid. And program your own charge parameters.

At 3,29v /cell there shouldn't be any balancing.
Balancing shouldn't start until the first cell reaches 3.45v (or at least 3.4v).

Thanks for the info. So i changed it to lead acid, I had to select either 250ah or 300 ah so i selected 300ah since they are 280ah EVE battery cells but supposably test closer to 300ah, or should i set it for 250ah? Its only pushing 700 watts into the battery now when i know it could push 3 times that based on what the arrays could be getting, is that just because there is some limit on the lead acid setting? Thanks for the help nice to at least have some watts going in now and the system going! :-)

It doesn't matter. That's probably only used to calculate SOC. Which is never going to be very accurate anyway.

That is controlled by the charge settings. You can adjust it to whatever you want (within the limits).

I have it set for 125 amps on the EG4 control center, so it should be able to push 6000 watts

What do you have the charging voltage set at?
And what is the current battery voltage?
under maintenance tab, battery settings, the only option it gives me is charging amps (charge current limit). Is the charging voltage under maintenance? The JK BMS calibrating voltage is at 54.76

I'm not familiar with the settings layout, but it's in there somewhere.
There should be a setting for bulk charging voltage and a float charging voltage.

@highlands1234

Did you end up solving the problem and getting it to work cleanly?

I bought a JK BMS 16S1P battery which runs JK V15 firmware (latest). In the app, I can set the protocol as Pylontech (one of options the 12000XP and 6000XP speak); However, I have not tested it since I don't have the 12000XP inverter. Did you try to setting 2: Pylontech under the Lithium Type mode (instead of Standard). I was given this info by EG4 technical support (see screenshots below), so I thought to pass it on in case it helps.

Good luck!

Sorry for multi post but there are a few things you need to check .. I have that exact setting and use lead acid with three eg4 batteries and a JKBMS with 16s EVE cells.. it work perfectly.. but you will get funny error when things we not just right .. so start with JKBMS and make sure you have it set to allow that kind of charge in .. if I remember correctly it was set pretty low when I booted it up he first time..

Also make sure on the third tab that you have charge and discharge enabled.

Then check your 6000cp setting to make sure your setup …

This charge current limit is max from all sources…
Voltage is bulk charging max voltage

Hope it helps, and after everything is updated, I suggest a complete shutdown and restart of inverter. Following all setup direction for shutdown and startup… then I hope that’s everything … good luck … it does work … I have your exact setup ..

Hi, I have it connected to the JK EG4 6000XP inverter in the JK Polo BMS in CAN protocol on 11 and in the inverter on battery type 1. Try it and let me know. Thanks.

The JK bms does growatt protocol. that talks to a EG4 chargeverter GC, so try that to your battery and hook it to RS485 of the inverter.
