EG4 Chargeverter

I ran mine for ~2.5 hours at 100amps with my 10K generator without any issues. It does get very warm. Next day I decided to see how it did on 120v with my smaller 2500 inverter generator. I did have to turn off the eco mode on the generator or chargeverter would shutdown before generator got up to speed. Ran 30 amps for about an hour without any problems but afterwards did noticed the display was now skewed. Contacted SS and they requested pics and asked if I was OK to disassemble it and send more pics. Found adhesive tape holding display wasn't holding guessing due to the heat. Send pics and update to SS, ended up just putting some hot glue behind display and expect that to hold. Also found both modules were not fully seated into connector, so I'd recommend checking those. I will plan to run it more after I have a few cloudy days.

The display never quit working? It just “shifted” due to glue release?

Did you swap plugs for the 120?

EXCELLENT report... in the grand scheme of things, in that heat with that load I reckon a little bit of tape slippage has been a good lesson learned for them and they'll change tape vendor, this was a GREAT report, thank you...!!!!!!!

Care to share piccies/schematic? We love you long time G.I. if you do.

He's gonna do better than that. He's going to start lovingly assembling them and selling them with only a 5% mark up and free shipping!

Not quite what I meant but thanks… and thanks for the report...

You have to adjust the output to match the circuit you are plugged into.
For a 120v 15a circuit. The output should be no more than 25a charging.
For a 120v 20a circuit. The output should be no more than 35a charging.

How are you calculating? (I.e 120v 15a would be 56x 25 then divide by 120?) I’d like to calculate a max charge rate on a 30a 120v circuit

Circuit amperage x .8 x 120v ÷ 55
30a will handle the chargeverters full output, at 120v.

Mention @Will Prowse in your order and they fire up the Delorean and prepare it for shipping and ship it within a minute. LOL....... with service like that, I should have it by noo.....ummm wait as second, is that the UPS driver carrying a large banana up my driveway or a charger.....

HA!!!! Hilarious.....

Our lead time is that good if the item doesn't have a temporary sticker quality hold...

Hey all, thought I'd post here first. I got my chargeverter hooked up today, and I have a tri fuel genny running on propane into which I plugged the chargeverter directly into the 240v 30amp plug. With the breaker off and the chargeverter plugged into the genny, I pressed enter, set the voltage to 56.4 and amperage to 90, press escape, and if i press enter again, the voltage remains but the amperage reverts to 45. If I flip the breaker, the chargeverter charges at 45amps just fine, but every time I try to increase amps above 45 it reverts back to 45. What gives?

Attached are pics showing the chargeverter running at 45 amps that it keeps defaulting to. Could it be sensing 120v?

Press enter
Not escape

Press enter
Not escape
Nope.

With the breaker off:
I press enter, which takes me to the voltage and amperage menu, I press down to get to amperage, I set it to 90 from 45 by pressing up, I press enter, it stays 90, i press esc, it goes back to main screen, I press enter again, which takes me back to the voltage and amp menu. Voltage is saved, amperage is back to 45.

With breaker on:
Same as above except when I press enter after setting it to 90 and press escape, the charger screen shows it charging at 45
