I have been running an Aims 24v 4000w inverter for a couple of years for back up power.
I currently have (2) 24v BigBattery 170amp hour batteries connected parallel.
I am not using the Aims built in charging.
I am using a Victron low amp charger connected directly to the main buss bars.
This keeps a trickle charge on the batteries from grid power.
I recently purchased (2) 24v EG4 batteries I want to add to the mix.
I have a battery isolater switch which will let me pull current from either the 2 Big Batteries, or the 2 EG4 batteries, or all 4.
I will start with the dumbest questions first.
Can the EG4 batteries be used without communications?
Do the 2 EG4 batteries need communications between themselves.
If both Big battery’s and EG4s are at the same state of charge (100%). Can they be combined as one large 4 battery bank?
Info. All batteries are properly fused at the buss bars.
I have a victron smart shunt connected to the main buss bars.
