EG4 Firmware Updates – March 11, 2025

I have a 2 parallel 6000xp running DOE from 2023-05-12. Units are running perfectly with no charge cycling as I've seen mentioned with more recent firmware versions.

The only thing I notice is a random switch to grid once per week or so when the legacy AC cycles on. It only stays on grid for one cycle and it goes back to solar without issue. This only happens mid day with lots of solar capacity after the unit is in idle mode after completely charging to 100%. Batteries are in Lead Acid mode with no comms. Legacy AC startup load is high with no soft boot to help it get going. When I had only 1 6000xp I noticed the same thing happening. Legacy AC would startup most times without issue, but once per week of so, it would switch to grid.

Should I bite the bullet and upgrade these parallel inverters? It's really not a big deal living with this minor issue.

Sounds like an easy start on your AC unit is your best option if you don't want to live with the problem, but I think it is a super minor problem, actually not really a problem at all they are working as designed.
In other words I don't see the problem.

Yes, but an easy start is about the same price as a small mini split. I've installed the small mini split in the master BR which cuts the legacy AC unit to day use only. Legacy AC will get replaced completely at some future date.

My only thought was that this switching to grid when idling with lots of solar just might be firmware related?

Feels to me like the batteries might be going offline when they are fully charged, and it takes them a moment to start supplying current. Personally I'd try closed-loop if that's an option...

Closed loop as in Lead Acid mode with no comms?

Lead Acid mode with no comms is the definition of Open Loop.
Ah yes. No comms possible on this unit. I suppose I could adjust the max charge and float voltage and see if that changes anything.

When I had the " swap to grid on full battery when solar alone couldn't cover loads" It was treated like the battery didnt exist at all!

This happened every day that I got to full absorb, sometimes 15X per day! every 5 minutes it would try an fail to use battery and solar at the same time and then fall to grid/
