I just bought an EG4 6000XP. A local guy that sells solar equipment as a side business has 2: EG4 LifePower4 Version 1 Batteries. They are new in the box. He’s asking $1000 each, cash without tax. This would result in a savings of about $400 per battery versus buying 2 new EG4 LifePower4 Version 2 Batteries. Wondering if this is really worth it and if there are concerns about the batteries sitting around for a couple years.

I wouldn't turn these batteries down right away. I would connect to them with a computer and the BMS tool so I can see the stats accrued by the bms's. I would want to do a cycle test to check capacity. And in the end I would probably offer $700 per battery. These batteries are out of date, they're not bad but they are the last version.

I wouldn't either. I have one that I bought last February. Do a search on "Charging MOS fault alarm". Not a big deal, and can be fixed, but a hassle to deal with. I've had no other issues with the battery. I've recently bought 1 of the Vatrer, and one of the Eco-Worthy units. They ended up being $1k & around $800 respectively - including tax & shipping. I just think there are better deals out there.
