Hello. I have 5 EG4-LL 48v batteries in my system, and I'm using a EG4 Chargeverter during these winter months. I've read several posts about keeping these batteries healthy during northern latitude winter months by ensuring that they are able to fully balance the cells. One member recommended running the generator and Chargeverter a while longer after the batteries are at 100%, I have been doing this - no problems thus far.
My question is: the display on the EG4 batteries shows the state of charge, battery voltage, incoming or outgoing current (amps) and whether the battery is "discharging," "charging" or in "standby". Even though the batteries may show 100%, they still show that they are "charging". I have been continuing to charge them until they go into "standby", at which point they will accept no more charge current from the Chargeverter, and my generator (an inverter generator) drops to idle. I'm assuming that the batteries BMS is tapering the incoming charge current, and once the batteries go into "standby" that they are charged and balanced. Does this sound right?
I'm very happy with the whole system, just want to be sure I understand what I'm seeing. I should mention that I've set the Chargeverter at 56.2v, and my generator runs best with Chargeverter at 40 amps.
Thanks!
Bob
