EG4 Price Changes – What You Need to Know

Importer buys thing for $1000 from china.
Importer sells think from china for $2000
Importer makes $1000 profit.

20% China tariff increases cost by $200 to $1200.
Importer raises price by 20% to $2400 saying, "because tariffs"
Importer makes $1200 profit.

Hmmm....
That is how it works most of the time but smart companies do cut their Profits down to get a larger market share.

I am sure in a week or two SS will Declare that they are having a huge SALE and that for a limited time their prices are now discounted by xx% which will still be 30% above what they were before the Tariffs but it will feel like you are getting a deal.

I see lots of SS Sale events in the Future and I believe these high prices are just a short term Ruse. If they are not hen he might as well pack his bags as I see a similar Aircon selling for $700 less on eBay from a US seller and CC seems to have stock of most things at a much lower price. Not to mention all the batteries still selling for $850 for 5Khw

reviewing the aircon classes next week, they were affected by the metals tarriff as well. we have local supply options, may be able to roll those changes back
So you are saying they Tariff you on the assembled AC unit in it's box and then charged you again on the Steel the AC is made out of or the copper Hoses in the box? That makes no sense!

It can take 5 years or more to buy land, design a building, source materials, hire a workforce and train them.
There are thousands of old industrial sites around the USA that could be had for cheap and redeveloped.

Then there is the fact that overseas workers are probably not union members, don't get 401k or IRA plans, company cars, weekends or vacation time like we do, maternity or paternity time off, Election Day and all those holidays off and are not being paid like we are.
Chinese New Year seems to be longer than all of our holidays combined.

And THUS why we have became a SOLARK user .... not affected by tariffs and prices have stayed the same - or lower when on sale) for at least 2 years ... Of course the SOLARK-15 is the only system we purchase so really thats the only price i track ...

Plus its a GREAT company -- they actually answer their phones ....

Well they come out of a Deye factory in China so presumably at some point they may increase, but they have huge margins so could easily absorb the 20% tariff as well.

I will have to say though that of all (and I mean I think we have tried everything out there) - the SOLARK so far has been the only bullet-proof solution that we don't have to worry about once we deploy them to the fields .... YES they are over engineered and literally weigh more than I do -- but they have bent over backwards to help us integrate their stuff into others and help us find the lightest, fastest, cheapest solution ...

And did I mention they answer their phones ???

This is why I speed up the timeline for purchasing my solar equipment back in February to beat the tariffs. The batteries, panels and FlexBoss/GridBoss came last month. The Sinclair ground mount came Tuesday. The conduit, wiring and remaining parts have been purchased or ordered already. Errored on the side of getting too much wire but figure if the 25% Copper tariff comes. I'm all set. Construction starts Mid April after I retire. Hopefully the 30% tax credit doesn't get axed before 2026.

Ecoworthy is up $100 for their server rack
Looks the same at $899?

It was $799

EG4 seems to be the only company raising prices right now.
For the China vendors, they mostly quote in pre tariff dollars, so their effective prices have gone up as well.

The latest China tariff hike was only 10 days ago. The impact has yet to be fully felt. For a brief period, there will be pre tariff pricing on a few things and then everything will rebalance to the new reality.

Vendors who aren't subject to tariffs will also raise prices. That happens in any free market, more demand, higher prices.

What are you planning to buy instead?
After finding a reseller with pre tariff pricing, I ordered an EG4 FlexBOSS21. It is still the best fit for what I want to do and the pre tariff pricing was reasonable enough.

After my Amensolar experience, I am reluctant, despite the pricing, to go with China only support. While FB has had its issues, the fact at least some of them are getting addressed and fixed is a positive sign.

Now my debate is whether the $110 LCD kit is worth it or not. My inclination is probably not. I should be able to have the EG4 Wifi dongle installed, and also have SA monitoring the setup, and that seems like enough connectivity as long as the networking stays up.

Then why is there a thread "How on Earth do you get support from Sol-Ark?"

The world seems to be moving towards a "no support" model of business, where users have to huddle together to figure things out.

Mike C.
Not sure about THAT thread -- if you look long enough on this forum you will find a thread about anything .... BUT ..from where I sit ... SOLARK has given an amount of support and attention that few others -- actually no others .... they don't ask you to try to prove this or that and send 800 pictures or "leave a message" etc etc ... maybe they just got better ... and to each their own ... there are still people out there swearing Signature Solar is the best customer service they have ever had -- and yet I am still waiting for that "CALL YOU RIGHT BACK" a year later ... LOL

At EG4, we believe in making solar energy solutions available to everyone. We've worked hard to keep our prices low so more people can go solar.

You might have noticed some price changes recently - these are because of the 20% tariff imposed by the government on March 4th. We know price increases can be frustrating, and we've tried to keep the impact as small as possible. Many of the price increases are less than the 20% tariff increase, while others are a bit more due to other price pressures.

We believe in US manufacturing to avoid these price swings. By working to make our products here in the U.S., we aim to reduce risks like this and keep delivering reliable products at obtainable prices. Some of our flagship products already benefit from these efforts and you'll notice little to no price increase on them. We're excited to share updates on our efforts to bring more manufacturing onshore in the coming months.

We really appreciate your understanding as we navigate these changes together, and we're grateful for your continued support in making solar energy a reality for more people every day.
