I thought this was interesting when browsing Signature Solar's website this morning. I'm curious to see who would trade/upgrade to the EG4 18K from the Sol-Ark. Maybe for the new Gridboss/Flexboss or whatever it's called?

Program Details:

  • Eligibility: Customers who have purchased Sol-Ark 15K inverters.
  • Upgrade Options: Trade in your Sol-Ark 15K inverter and purchase the EG4 18kPV Hybrid Inverter at a reduced cost of $1000 per unit.
  • Limit Per Customer: No limit

That was my first thought. Who would trade in a $7000+ solark 15k on a $4900 18kpv unit, and pay $1000 to boot? Do they think their emp testing approvals are going to cause a big rush?
It's new equipment with a warranty in exchange for used equipment from a manufacturer that changes and removes warranty terms at will to attack competitors.

We're trying to support our customers, and solar users, as best we can 🫶🏻 Solar for everyone.. Warrantied, solar for everyone. This is a Signature Solar program, you wouldn't be able to get this through another vendor or EG4 directly, so if anyone has any questions, make sure you reach out to us directly!

So why not just come out and say it.

"If you have a Sol-Ark 15k that Sol-Ark refuses to warranty, we will take it off your hands and give you $1000 toward the purchase of a EG4 18kPV"

At that point, we can discuss how prevalent this refusal to warranty is. Sol-Ark's refusal to warranty is not a know problem on here.

Both statements are vague and inflammatory, yet Kamala word salad worthy.
Just read the posts our battery customers are putting up about what happens when they call their inverter company for warranty.
It's a free country, some people may want to swap for other reasons and we won't ask questions.

I've read several posts where solark won't provide technical support assistance for eg4 batteries while they will with their "partners" batteries like Pytes etc.

But that's a whole different scenario from refusing warranty service because the magic smoke was released.

Can you link to some examples of the latter?

The claim is that solark are denying warranty coverage due to the use of eg4 batteries. But the trade in requirements list that the solark must be in working condition..... so how does that help those solark users?

Can we buy the Solark 15k trade-ins for $1000? :p

put me down for one please...seriously though EG4 has it's share of bully tactics such as blocking me from adding users and leaving battery brand dropdown blank to limit SOC to their brand of battery only.
Looks like solark support pylontech so others could be used? But perhaps not supported for battery comms and only via voltage?

Except for those of us outside the US. My warranty was voided the second it was loaded on a ship and sent to me in Costa Rica. I knowingly accepted the terms but EG4 might do better by not throwing rocks from a glass house.

EG4 is not looking professional here:
1. No effort to support non EG4 batteries
2. No effort to allow us owners to add users (wife, friends, local installers, etc) I spent $100 to install SA to get users and a great app.
3. No warranty outside the US
4. No shipment support outside the US

It's not just battery communication issues, they are also apparently welding grid bypass relays shut, now that is a very serious problem.
