EG4 Upgrade Program - Turn-in Sol-Ark 15K for EG4 18K

My friend’s batteries worked just fine with Sol-Arks in closed loop.. Not on any list, but he said the BMS is same as what the SOK brand batteries use.
There's been multiple threads where people have had failures of the eg4 BMS. I don't think it's unreasonable that solark is nervous about eg4 batteries being hooked up to their rebadged Deyes. The last thing they want to do is spend support resources engaging in troubleshooting for eg4 BMS failures, balancing issues that could take weeks to resolve etc.

Some talk of significant failure rates:

BMS balancing issues, apparently worse on the lifepower4:

Getting 2 things to talk to each other is not trivial. Android and iPhone still don't work well together.

If you want closer loop, then get approved equipment. Otherwise, open loop works just fine. Why not blame the battery manufacturer if the battery doesn't talk to the inverter.

You might want to read the thread comments again and refer to their PUBLISHED battery compatibility list. Doesn't this list represent closed loop compatibility? If it's not a list of closed loop batteries, then what is the purpose of the list?

Before passing judgement, suggest listening to the call that caused the commotion. I side with the SA tech vs the solar co owner. Painful to listen to someone who constantly tries to answer his own questions…
Link to recorded call on Facebook.
Recorded call
Conclusion: only in closed loop, and if EG4 bms caused damage to inverter, it could void warranty. In open loop, no issues. Seems reasonable to me.

Btw, I’ll gladly offer 2k for any working 15kW SolArk. Pretty sure the bidding will get closer if not over 4k though;)

Edited to mean solar company owner, not the solar equip owner.

hmm, works on all my devices. Here’s the link.

Also, I edited my previous post to correct that the caller is from the solar company that did the install and not the solar equip owner.
Edit: you have to register to the EG4 group to get access.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

at the end of page two... without reading the rest of this just buy a Magnum, Victron, Midnite, Outback , Schneider etc. avoid the chinese AIO's that solves all of these issues.

The War between EG4Srael and Hezbolark is getting out of hand. Ballistic missiles all over the place.

As you are attempting to make a contraction using Hezbollah, and Sol Ark, you need to spell it as Hezlark. We no longer use Hezbollha as israel removed their Bollah's with the Kosher Pagers...

edit: is EG4 developing Kosher batteries?

You'll prob want to consider Midnite Solar Rosie and related units in that case if you need UL compliance, otherwise Victron.

Eg4 inverters at least in the past have indeed had very short lifecycles before discontinuation.
Nailed it Brucey, I was being sarcastic in my post but it was pretty subtle. I have not been impressed so far with EG4 gear or any of the other AIO HFs.. I have worked on a few for neighbors, then all the stuff you read and see. Hopefully the 18k works out better for everyone cause EG4 is popular.

I'm 100% off-grid and have zero code to worry about. No UL requirements. I only buy Victron gear now. They offer the best of both worlds in their inverters, efficient and reliable. Not as much grunt as a classic LF but way better then an HF. I know to much about inverters and could never buy an HF. Victrons toroidal setup is genius. They have found a sweet spot between the old bomber LF with laminate core transformers and higher efficiency HF inverters. They also have a really simple design with fewer parts. No massive front end filter messes like on an high power HF and the MOSFETs don't get constant torture.

ooooohhhh, aaaahhhhhhh, yeeet yeeet! another Smurf to tease :ROFLMAO:

Probably on the floor along with the "made in USA by veterans" lie
Our initial units were made here, but then people kept saying that the newer units were made here as well. Even after correcting them, they kept stating that but rarely...sometimes you can't correct enough. However, we are bringing manufacturing/Assembly to the USA.

Are you the solark COO? Wouldn't they be your units and your literature?
I was but have since moved on from that position. Just updated the Bio. I am always interested if people find misinformation on the site or elsewhere. Kind of like mystery shopping. Have you seen any claims to being made here in the USA?

If someone takes advantage of this gets taken advantage of, they have to pay return shipping to send their Solark back...
Who would even consider this? I can't figure it out and I've been trying to make sense of it for deyes. Seems like a money maker for EG4 to me, what's a used 15K go for...

Maybe a few hundred bucks to ship the unit alone! Ouch.
