@WYtreasure , I heard back from Temco this morning, and they say that their products are made in China in order to keep costs down.

I do not appreciate the American flag theme, and language about their company being an "American team" on the front page of their website--- it's clearly intended to mislead people like me and you into believing that these products are American made. Temco doesn't state anywhere online, on their products, or in their paperwork what the country of origin is. They specifically ignore questions about this on their Amazon store (while answering other unrelated questions).
Thanks for getting the info. Apparently great products can come out of china.

Thanks for digging this out .... I have a Temco hydraulic crimp tool set and am very happy with it .... but the attempt to deceive a person into thinking they are made in the US is one of my pet peeves. I hate it when they do that. That will reduce their standing by a notch for me.
I think they have a good reputation for customer service .... and I think the product ships from the a US location. So, they will still be on my recommend list til I find a better alternative.

I also have an El Cheapo Harbor Freight hydraulic crimp tool for the smaller stuff .... It does a really good job also. The crimps I have done with it are head and shoulders better than other inexpensive hand held crimp tools. The key to these type tools is closely matching the wire to the terminal .... and maybe doing some test crimps with new wire and terminal types to get it right.

I agree, TemCo should have let us know these products are made in china, but I have unknowingly added fuel to the fire in other threads where I have pointed out the lack of the word "china" on my TemCo tools.
I really like their tools and am okay with them being made abroad. Hopefully other manufacturers will strive to build as well as TemCo's manufacturer. Better yet, I wish it were built this well here in the states.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would call any TemCo crimper "Elcheapo".

Many say that until they see the Made In USA price.
I am fine with imported as long as a US company is controlling the build to be top quality and provide US based customer support.

The problem is not whether they can make good products. The issue is they cannot make consistently high quality products significantly cheaper.

But, most of us are willing to roll the dice since we are not relying on these tools dayin/dayout to make a living.

Where you can get into real trouble is on the leading edge products where tight quality control at every stage of the process is required. Those products are likely in very high internal demand and rarely exported.

Yeah that's kind of true but rest assured, America is getting thoroughly bashed in China too!

Besides Ive found that bashing the bashers is like beating a growling dog. Its too easy to become part of the problem.

I grew up in the 60s and remember well cheap American made products. Ingenious in their own cost saving shenanigans actually.
It was a true "get what you pay for" market. That's where Sears and Wards came in as quality control stewards. Their stuff was not the best but it had a reliable quality level for wide range of products under one roof.

I think of China like the America of the 60s. Not a lot of regulation and profit motive is high. Oh wait, that's America 2022. Except we don't manufacture for the middle class any longer. We import that stuff "to keep costs down".

I like the temCo th00005 ? , that may be an extra 0 . I've used it on quad paralleled 500 mcm conductors@ 480vac and over 1000 amps.
Worked good, that was 4-5 years ago . It still works fine.
