Epoch 12460A-H & Epever Tracer 5415 w/ MT50 Settings

I purchased the Epoch 12460A-H and it just arrived.

I have an Epever Tracer 5415 Solar Charge Controller w/ MT50 programing screen. I've had it for about 5 years (with a VMax AGM) and am hoping to not have to buy another charge controller.

I want to make sure I have things configured correctly. I couldn't find anyone else on this forum who listed their settings for an Epoch, so I read the manuals and then called Epoch to talk to someone. They were very willing to help - but obviously had no experience with Epever. These are our best guess at settings, and I want to see if anyone else used the Epoch and Epever and had other recommendations.

Epoch Recommendations
From the website:
Voltage: 12.8V
Max Charge Voltage: 14.6V
Operating Voltage Range: 10.0 - 14.6V
Bulk/Absorption: 14.2V – 14.6V
Float: 13.4V – 13.8V
Equalization: 14.4V/ Disabled
Temperature Compensation: 0/Disabled

From the manual:
Follow these specified charging voltages to ensure optimal charging:
• Bulk Voltage: 14.2V
• Absorption Voltage: 14.2V
• Float Voltage: 13.6V

Best Guess at Settings for the Epever
Here are the settings settled on by the Epoch representative and myself:
Battery Type: User
Battery AH: 460
Temp Comp. Coeff: 0
Rated V: 12V
Over Volt. Disconnect: 14.6 V (must be > all other settings)
Charge Limit 14.5 V (must be >= Equalize)
Equal. Charge: 14.4 V (must be >= Boost Charge)
Boost Charge: 14.2 V (must be >= Float)
Float Charge: 13.6 V (must be >= Boost Reconnect)
Under Volt. Warn: 12.0 V
Equalize Time: 0min
Boost Time: 0 min
x -- Over Volt. Reconnect. 14.4 V - Not applicable because integrated load terminals are not in use.
x -- Boost Reconnect: 13.2 V - Not applicable because integrated load terminals are not in use.
x -- Low Volt. Reconnect: 12.6 V - Not applicable because integrated load terminals are not in use.
x -- Under Volt. Reconnect: 12.2 V - Not applicable because integrated load terminals are not in use.
x -- Low Volt Disc: 11.1 V - Not applicable because integrated load terminals are not in use.
x -- Discharge Limit: 10.6 V - Not applicable because integrated load terminals are not in use.

Does anyone else have an Epever and Epoch (or similar battery) and want to critique my settings?

Thanks.

- Josh

Those settings look reasonable. I don't have either of those devices, but the settings are common for most solar charge controllers and LiFePO4 batteries.

I’ve been searching for these same settings for my EPEver charge controller and this thread came up on the search function. Thanks for posting this!!!

You get the setting from the battery maufacturer or they should be in the paperwork that came with the battery. The epever does not have "settings" specific, the specifics are for the battery not the controller, so you set the controller according to the battery.

On these MT50s it can be tricky to program the settings as some numbers have to be set first before the next screen, or previous screen, will allow you to change the settings to what you want. It will say something about outside of parameters or something, some kind of error message... like if float voltage is higher than bulk voltage - most are not that simple and dont make sense to the newbiw, so just move on and set the next parameter and you will do this 2-3 times before making it all work, this is normal in the configuration process. You can also use a laptop if you have the usb cable that works with the epever, but the mt50 works too.

OP made it clear they understood those rules

Charge Limit 14.5 V (must be >= Equalize)
Equal. Charge: 14.4 V (must be >= Boost Charge)
Boost Charge: 14.2 V (must be >= Float)
