Existing Enphase Gateway & 26 panel system will not communicate to Micro-Inverters After installing EG4 18K and (2) Batteries

i am working on an existing system, 26 panels from Enphase with a gateway. The customer was unhappy with the performance and went out and bought an EG4 k18 Hybrid Inverter and (2) EG4 Batteries in which I installed. My problem seems to be the enphase gateway is not abe to speak with its micro in verters so my idea is to take the 6 wires coming off the roof and landing them into a combiner and then run the two out wires from the combiner and landinding them directly into,I believe EG4 18k generator out ports there anyone who can give some real advice on this issue? With the 18K on the line, I don't believe the sine waves are able to travel upstream so I have to clear the way for them to communicate. Everytime I call manufacturers tech support I get a different story.

The gateway should be in the combiner and should not be needed to run the system.
Is the generator port bi-directional? The IQ's need to see the power before they will start.
