I knew of the earthquake, I wasn’t familiar of its name, it’d make a pretty good documentary.
Btw Wikipedia says it was March 27, not quite April, maybe due to time zones were different back then?
Could well be that i was reading a report dated April, 12
Alaska has been moved into one time zone, it used to span three back then.
I had forgotten the exact date but I cannot forget that earthquake. It is burned in memory....so I blew it’s date twice now, but it was on Good Friday.....I have to admit that I was scared to s**t, but I had to focus and retrive my little sister from the house which was bumped off its foundation. It definitely got everybody’s attention. None of will ever forget it, Quite a few years later I was in LA when the Northridge quake devistated parts of LA , I slept through it....lol
Was in downtown Palo Alto in a two story brick building when the Coalinga quake hit and I jumped over the railing and was down the stairs in 15 seconds flat, That was scary....felt that the whole thing was coming down, moved out that week. No more brick buildings for me. There used to be some in Anchorage but the Good Friday quake took them all down, cant build with brick there anymore.
