Fed-UP with Fed-"Ex"

So I recently ordered a product. Not solar by the way. The vendor offered various shipping options. Since I was not in a hurry (then) I opted for the default shipping method.

Alas it was Fed-Ex. The product went out quickly. A plus. I was also given a tracking number in a day or so, quite normal now a days.

First I was promised the product on Wednesday. When the delivery time came and went, I called "Customer Service" my emphasis. It was promised delivery by the end of the day. Pretty remarkable since it was sitting in a shipping depot in another state. The rep did not really understand my concern but said to continue to watch tracking and "could I please complete a survey" at the end LOL.

OK, now it is Thursday morning. A "new" promised delivery date and time. OK, now we are making progress. At least it is my state in a depot about an hour away. This "should" work, right?

Well not only did I not get my package yesterday, but now the "status" has been updated to "We’ll add a delivery date as soon as your package starts moving."

I have already contacted the supplier with my "satisfaction" regarding the situation. Will see how today goes. I am beginning to wonder if there was damage.

With the Black Friday sales it should be expected that everything is going to take more time, I have batteries coming via UPS and they have had delays as well, only so much can move at a time.

Fed-Ex - When it positively has to get there in at least twice the pieces you ordered and more then one hole in the box.

The wife make jokes that after 8pm, the FedEx drivers get together in the warehouse, to see who can spin around in the forklift the most without hitting anything. (you get knocked out when you hit something, everyone takes a turn)

It used to be Fedex would guarantee delivery by certain times or give a refund. My last Fedex delivery was supposed to be by 10:30am, and needed a signature, so I stuck around the house. 3:15pm is a little bit after 10:30am.

I still remember the commercials when Fed-Ex got started. "When it absolutely, positively has to get there overnight". Our company used it as the carrier for important documents.

Sigh, I know we just had Black Friday, good point. But to promise delivery twice and then fall off the map? Definite room for improvement there.

I’ve had many packages delivered by different carriers at various locations throughout the United States. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc. I’ve not seen any consistency.

No DHL are worse, they sent a Package meant for Glasgow UK to Perth Australia. Once it got to Perth then they realised their mistake and it carried on to make a circumvention of the globe to get to Glasgow UK.

We has a delivery by UPS earlier this year. When the delivery person arrived, my wife had just fallen and injured herself. The UPS person helped assist by calling EMS and helping her get something my wife needed as well as delivering the packages. All in all it probably set her back about 15 minutes which considering their schedules is a lot. We have seen her a number of times since and still thank her for the extra assistance. My wife is fine, nothing broken but the customer care was greatly appreciated.

FedEx and UPS are vastly different companies. One is an airline that happens to have delivery trucks (FedEx) and one is a trucking company that happens to have airplanes (UPS).

For what it's worth, FedEx deliveries in any given area are typically covered by multiple trucks. FedEx Express (the purple & orange logo), is actually owned and operated by FedEx, with employees. FedEx Ground (the purple & green logo), is operated by whoever the lowest bid contractor is. UPS has one delivery truck, any kind of shipment, Air or Ground, is delivered by the same brown truck, with a company union driver.

I will 1000% go out of my way to avoid ordering something delivered by FedEx of any flavor, if I can avoid it.

I have grown to hate things shipped to me by FedEx the outside contract employer. Lost, damaged and when/if eventually delivered coated in dust from a truck that is falling apart. All this by a new clueless employee, since the contractor pays horribly with no benefits with a harsh work load. Thus rapid turnover. Fed-Ex freight deliveries I have gotten have all been excellent although since they went to automatic transmissions on their Semis they no longer attempt the rural road. So I have to meet them somewhere.

UPS has had the same driver with the occasional temp for as long as I can recall. Same with my postal delivery guy. Yes the temps occasionally have miss delivered but it is a somewhat rare occurrence.

Fed Ex had my Amazon black Friday TV for ONE MONTH last year in Colorado. I was wondering if I could call the police and report it as stolen, contact FTC report interstate fraud, etc. Made the Local news

Eventually got ahold of the secret inside warehouse number, had it redirected to KS home base (took 2 days lol) then threw in car and next time i went drove it out myself to Colorado. Unbelievable. The long and short is Fed Ex needs to stop claiming they service that area.

Fed Ex is insanely bad in my part of the boondocks. It seems like I see a different driver every time they deliver here. Some are completely clueless, others just careless. We live on a street corner, with a street sign 30 feet from the corner of our house. Our house number is clearly visible from the street, yet they have trouble finding us. A few years ago, one genius delivered about $1000 worth of our stuff to the local meth distributor, one street over. I talked to him, he claimed he knew nothing about it. The next day, the same driver told me where she left the package. The shipper would not do anything until I filed a police report, so I had to call the sheriff and report it. Now the local meth dealer hates me. Great.

Over in Gunnison, Fed Ex is so bad that hardly a day goes by without a botched delivery showing up on the local swap group on Facebook.

We have a regional truck line that's even worse, though. They have been notorious for decades. I seriously think they destroy some significant percentage of the things they handle. I have no idea how they can still be in business. It's called RAC, pronounced wreck. Also known as Rush And Crush. Everyone dreads having those trucks show up. Sometimes they show up unexpectedly, instead of Fed Ex Ground.

UPS was a mess during the Covid chaos, but they are doing well now. We have a regular driver, who is a really nice guy. He's been around long enough to know the quirks of some of the addresses around here. Amazon's database is a menace if you live one town over from here. Even though the town has its own post office with its own zip code, Amazon refuses to acknowledge its existence. There are three or four hundred people living there, and they have to put the wrong town and zip on Amazon orders so the system will accept it. I'm sure it makes a mess of Fed Ex deliveries, since they can't find our house with all the visual aids one could want.

Fed ex overnight is fine, ground is a disaster

I had a package go out for delivery for 7 consecutive days with various reasons at the end of each day why it wasn't delivered. I finally managed to get the "local" (2 hours away) warehouse after 3 days of trying. Evidently the driver had only been running a very small part of his territory every day and was due to get fired. My package finally got delivered, on the road near my mailbox where anyone could see it, and steal it.

I once had FedEx Ground deliver to my “Mailroom” according the tracking info.
I don’t have a mailroom.

I have a mailbox on the side of the road 250’ from the house.
He dropped it on the street below the mailbox.

So that’s the joke now when someone in the house hasn’t gotten a package.
Did you try the Mailroom?

I have seen a lot of consistency. The delivery date indicated is pretty unreliable on just about all of them. I don't ever trust the date, unless I look at the tracking details and realize it made it to the closest local delivery point by say 2-3am in the morning... And the further away the package is the more unreliable the estimate is, and that is without black friday shipping season that throws a whole new wrench into the works.

Had some stuff Ship from B&H photo in Manhattan a week ago.

Normally they arrive in 2 days. I got it last night and the driver was in a Penske Truck, so I’m assuming Holiday shipping is causing a lot of this.

Well to update, after talking with a number of "customer service" reps, They finally opened a Support Ticket. They ask 48 hours to investigate. Then they are closed Sunday so....

Fedex is terrible, their partnership with flock surveillance system. I avoid FedEx at all costs.

I don’t have a mailroom.
I've had packages "left and front desk" and with the driver writing "secretary" in the signature boxes.
For deliveries at my house!

What sucks is they don't have any more leverage with UPS or FedEx than you do. I've been on both side and neither company seems to care when they loose a package.
We had some suspicious scan in for a delivery, when I called in and they didn't have much answers, I said it looks like you've lost it. She said, yeah probably. Go online and fill out the form, good bye.
