I am in the process of figuring out my solar system for my Ram Promaster campervan build. Based on some initial research and calculations I have decided to go with a 24v system because of its higher power capabilities and the cheaper price. Right now, I am planning on putting 2 370w 48v solar panels wired in series on the roof and connecting them to 2 24v 200ah EG4 batteries. Here is where my questions begin.
1. I am debating between using the all-in-one growatt 24v 3000kw inverter or using separate components for the charge controller, and inverter charger. Has anyone installed one of these in a van? Do I need to worry about the idle power consumption of the growatt?
2. Has anyone installed EG4 batteries in their rig? I called the company and they haven't done any mobility testing with them. I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about.
3. Any recommendations on boost converters for alternator charging? Right now I'm looking at sterling.
Any advice you could throw my way is appreciated.
