Florida Neighbors Prepare for Hurricane - How are you getting ready?

The winds will probably be degraded by the time it gets to Merritt Island.
We are between Tampa and Orlando, directly in today's projected path.
We put up DIY storm window covers this morning.
Expect 100 mph gusts here, will see if the PV panels reach escape velocity.....

Good luck, looks like our FL condo is far enough inland on the East coast that we're going to be safe, plus or minus some wind and rain, but we're still far enough out in time, and the spaghetti models are still variable enough that anything could happen.

Good luck! What's that tarp for? Unless it's tied down better than it looks it's not going to be there Thursday...

I am waiting for more accurate spaghetti model results. Should know by tomorrow. Looks like it will miss us and go to central FL.

I am also going to either lay my temporary panels flat on the ground or pull them in and stack them, depends what it looks like on Tuesday.

To early to tell exact impact area. Projections show it moved south a little more and storm track slowing down, this gives it more time to build. 1st responders mobilizing. Communication towers propane tanks being topped off. Supplies being moved to safe staging sites. There is a lot of supplies in the big bend are that is being put into tractor trailers for storage and possible relocation. Prepare for the worst and do the best you can. Gov DeSantis loves those "Elon Musk devices" so network should be in good shape. Ground already saturated due to recent rains.

My System is in UPS mode and charging up.

Florida Radar Full of rain

Don’t think anywhere is safe. Hell my cabin is 500 miles away as the crow flies from Helene FL landing in the E-TN mountains and we won’t have grid for a month and my PV array is somewhere…definitely not where it was.
FL will recalling crews for home land storm.

They are taking this one very serious. Can't blame Fl from not getting ready. There are a lot of little CO-OP's that use contractors. They go where the money is.
Duke issues statement
"Tropical Storm Milton's current path poses a major threat to communities along the state's west coast," said Todd Fountain, Duke Energy Florida storm director. "We want to assure our customers our team is ready to respond. We will be mobilizing our mutual assistance crews from across the country to help with power restoration."

I'm near Clearwater. The last storm didn't bother us. This one probably won't either.
I am ready to use my batteries if the power goes out.
Wow, hope you are above the storm surge, but I guess if you are online after Helene you must be. Looks like you are on or near the track of a CAT3 hurricane on Wed morning.

Hope everyone stays safe. Seems the models on it are not looking good for how strong it might get before slamming into Florida. Could be another 4 or possibly a 5. If I lived in Florida I think I would evacuate Tuesday morning if I was within 100 miles of the eye coming ashore.
