OK, you are a bunch of smart techies, I have an old radio in my office that has a really lovely sound to it. Unfortunately the FM reception where is is sucks. Can anyone recommend some kind of way to boost the FM signal without having a bunch of cords lying around. All advice appreciated.

Just run a copper wire from the current antenna up.. its not a transmitter so you don't have to worry about SWR or anything.

I'm way out in the countryside.. FM sucks here.. My HAM radio uses a dipole antenna that is strung between two maple trees 80 feet off the ground.. So when I want to listen to 2meter, airport traffic, CB Radio, or the FM stations, I just plug my SDR Dongle into that dipole and the entire local area opens up.
