After having an electrician install my Generac manual transfer switch for my Generac gasoline generator which works fine with the generator, I plugged in a Pecron 3600 single phase only, which is all I need. No 240 loads on the transfer switch. Just wanted to have something to offset the gasoline use .
Find out the rocker switch from utility to generator only works with 240-volt generator. I can take the cover off an use the little metal bar to throw the switch but was wondering if anyone else had this issue and found a work around the switch.

Appreciate your time

Your house electrical panel has split phase backbone with roughly half the 120vac breakers on one 120vac phase and half the breakers on other 120 vac phase.

If all you want is 120 vac loads you could parallel the L1 and L2 together at the generator input. Probably the safest place to do this is in the 120vac only generator plug. Just need to be sure you only use that special cross wired L1 to L2 cable for 120 vac only generators.

You want to keep the 240/120 vac generator input port to house in case you ever get a 240/120vac split phase generator.

This. I had an InterLockKit.com generator breaker wired with L1 and L2 connected, all the 120V loads worked and none of the 240v loads did.

Just make up a special cord and mark it for it’s specific use on both ends.

The Generac generator I use now is 240 volt. It runs my 1.5 hp well on a separate circuit and this tranfer switch.
Problem is I didn't know the rocker switch for grid or gen only works with 240 volt.
The Pecron 3600 is single phase. When you plug it into the transfer switch the gen light comes on, but the switch won't switch.
Today I took the cover off the transfer switch and used the little metal handle on the lever inside to switch to gen. Then it works and put the cover back. Running my essential on the Pecron 3600., no appliances except fridge and micro. Rest is on the grid.
