I remember having this same argument back in the 80's when it came to buying a new pump. The Australian one was something like $2000 and the Chinese made one was $300. We went for the Chinese one which worked and kept on working.
Now there is no argument. There are also no Australian pump makers!
About this time all the smaller petrol pump units went from US made B&S to Hondas, My lawnmower is now powered by B&S with made in China on it.
Later the John Deer tractors were replaced by Case. Case the makers of Jeeps. Can not get more 'apple pie' than that if you don't realise who owns Case!
I fully understand your thinking but do realise there is much more to it to avoid the problems epitomised by Detroit using a singular example.

I'm well aware. This has been in the making for decades. But all this was only possible because we as voters and consumers cared about our personal gain only, and ignored the consequences to come.

China has tried this a few times in the past. Usually their intrusions turn back against themselves.
Their latest "Belt & Road" initiative is starting on that return journey now that countries realise the implications.

China has a a long run left in their growth and will hit a limit eventually same as the other developed countries. China will eventually depend on others to manufacture goods to continue growing their standard of living. Possibly will move production to India and possibly some to Africa. I think I will be gone long before this plays out.

China won't have to put any boots on the island, they can easily cut off any sea and air travel or force embargoes and tariffs on them. Also, China long expanded its military control in the South sea. They didn't build all those man-made islands for fun. China considers Taiwan to be a part of their republic ever since and Taiwan knows this.

A solution would be to US flag the ships (I think that should only be done for ships that pay taxes to us), and escort them to/from Taiwan with US Navy ships. Guess what happens if China sinks a US flagged ship?

Er uh.... Homeland Security Act of 2002 escalated mass surveillance of Americans.

Who lowered corporate taxes that favored billionaires (last 4 years).. both sides make it so they pay no personal taxes, One side gives them tax breaks, the other gives them cheap labor, both screw us.

The Act had good intentions and was only later abused to spy on many if not all Americans. As a matter of facts, Obama signed in 2015 the USA Freedom Act which restored provisions of the Patriot Act that had expired, AFTER Snowden revealed all the abuse.

Also, in my book rich people shouldn't pay one more dime in taxes. They often create jobs and businesses, that offer much more to our economy, than you average worker make 60k a year.

Blaming a millionaire / billionaire for not paying enough taxes is pretty laughable. How about making more money instead of expecting others to pay more? And in almost all cases they still pay MUCH more than the average Joe. A millionaire / billionaire is still only one person, and not using resources any more than others.

Dems are all about equality. How about a flat income tax bracket of 15% on ANY income, up to 100k. Folks making more than 100k don't have to pay taxes on anything surpassing those 100k. That would be fair. Why punish makers and give takers a free ride? Oh yeah, for votes.

That is exactly how Social Security is funded.
Unfortunately, Social Security is coming up short. A solution, we are told, is simply to eliminate the income cap on the tax, and it will have all the funds it needs.

(Until, of course, the same thing happens to this new money which happened the last time it was made solvent.)

Unless you mean the British professor or the Asian American epidemiologist from Oregon that just came out with that “news” in May or June 2020 but got banned on YouTube? One of whom claimed that one of the earliest dna samples indicated a probable ‘release’ date of June 2019? That breaking news?

That information is almost a year and a half old.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I certainly can’t help but think, “live culture testing” while all our media are still busy playing identity politics, running ads, and cashing the checks.

The budget deficit was recoverable in the 1980s. Collapsing that debt would have been domestically protective, but now: is eliminating government debt even possible? If “we” hadn’t joined the global bandwagon we’d be more domestically sound in the US. But now I am told that conversation is ‘nationalist’ which is apparently bad because nationalists are white supremicists. Nevertheless, I don’t care what national origin anyone is, but any US Citizen would be in a better place with a lot more nationalistic economic and domestic policy and action from the government Of The People.
