Getting ready to install Hybrid inverter .. got questions

Here is my current electrical setup.

Solar panels coming into a grid-tied SolarEdge 7600 H inverter .. and then wired from the inverter into my 200 amp main panel via a 40amp breaker.
I have a 100amp breaker in the main panel that can shut off my 125a rated subpanel .. and it is wired with 3 gage wire.

I want to get the EG4 12kPV hybrid inverter and a battery.

I will have re-wire the Solar Edge Inverter into the subpanel.
Can I wire the SE inverter into the subpanel with a 40a breaker?

Next, I have to wire from the subpanel to the EG412kPV.
What gage of wire goes from my subpanel to the EG4?
And is there a breaker in EG412k?

Next, I have to wire from the EG412k to the main panel.
What kind of wire goes from the EG412k to the main panel?
And into what size breaker? 40a?

thanks

Roger

I am in the same boat but with another brand of inverter (NHX-12k soon to be purchased). I would suggest consulting your supplier, or EG4 tech support directly. I am sure they will be more than happy to help with your installation guidance based on what I have read about them.

On the inverters that I have been researching, NHX 10k and NHX 12k..... the 10k models required 8 gauge for both in and out to grid and critical loads panels. The unit can accept 6 gauge, which many have used as a "beefing up" precaution. I would assume that the EG4 12k (which is 8k of AC output) would fall in that 8 gauge range of power wire.

I personally prefer to oversize the wire requirement by 1 size up to ensure there are no melt downs... just make sure to use the appropriate circuit breaker size as specified by the inverter.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your install. The EG4 stuff looks to be awesome! I think you made a great choice!
