Balmar being rather expensive and close to non-existing here in Europe I was looking for alternative options to charge LiFepo4 battery bank with higher currents and thought about taking advantage of "smart" alternator feature on many cars.
GM alternators for example seem to be super simple to control: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1912154-2-pin-2006-alternator-don-t-throw-away.html
Wouldn't be too hard to gobble up Arduino or similar to control the charging to your liking?
