Who's done it in cold climates?

I'm looking to buy a 48v cart for use on the homestead to haul chicken feed and garden stuff around, it's tiring to do it by hand, and it's a bit impractical to fire up the kubota every time to run a little trailer around.

I see a lot of discount carts with dead batteries. I search amazon and a ton of lifepo4 options come up. Problem is, i need them to run cold. We have temps 0f or below.

Anyone have recommendations?

Will they be stored or charged that cold - or below 33F? Lithiums run just fine in the cold (or so I have heard - but it’s the charging…

Yes, stored and charged when cold, below 33f. We have a cold snap of a few weeks that the high is 15f. In that time, I may need to use it.

Roy pow, sok, jakiper, are 3 that I know of also epoch makes the Roy pow so check them out.
I have 2 of the Roy pow trolling batteries in 12 volt heated good battery but their app sucks imo

Every time I search amazon for heated, it completely ignores me. Is there a place to source batteries with internal heaters?
Quit looking at Amazon, their search engine sucks for the user. Instead of providing what you ask for it returns results for whatever is somewhat similar and sells a lot, or whoever pays them for search placement.

I wanted to do that , but is wife's cart, was overruled she wanted stock issue lead acid. The weight does give the cart good traction and if needed it works OK at -20. plus it is a 36 V cart

I previously swapped my FLA with a SOK server rack in my Yamaha AC motor cart. However the 100A BMS would shutdown when accelerating or climbing hills. Plus the SOK sleeps after 24 hours and is a pain to wake up.

This month I installed a 48V GRENERPOWER for $750 with fast & free shipping. Went full throttle and the highest observed power was 160A for a couple of seconds with no shutdown. Keep the amp draw in mind when searching for a replacement battery.

Put a 48 volt battery in your 36 volt cart, your wife will thank you with youthful eagerness 🤣
You on the other hand will be white-knuckled

Not so sure- I bet our Model Y Performance being AWD will still take it, steering wise YEAH could be a white Knuckle experience if the front wheels are in the air!

She Has to run the flooded batteries to EOL since I paid $1700 for them. They are Good Crown PowerStar 220 amp hr units though.

An old HD gas golf kart with the two stroke in it is very very easy to maintain ( once you rebuild what is likely hard to find in good shape now )
for just putting around why bother?
A little bit of gasoline is not a big deal...

Oh have that covered... her cart is the electric , mine is a 1970 Cushman Golfster she donated to my use after she upgraded to the electric.

I put new rings in the old 14 HP Kohler (4 stroke) and it runs Good, unfortunately before she got the electric she painted it her favorite color PINK.

I am interested to hear how well the LI batteries in carts do. with the EV cars there are heaters and preheating

Simplicity. I want something simple that I can use to haul bricks or feed or whatever around the property. I don't want to deal with gas, or carbs, or oil changes, or anything else like that.

Its the other way around, Roy pow makes batteries for epoch.
I'd avoid the epoch.

Thats why I singled out the Harley Davidson.

Exceptional simple and easy to repair no oil to change....
Lots of reasons why you should consider it, even if you change you mind and electrify one its not rocket surgery.
I prefer the 4 wheeler to the trike..

I have 7 tractors, gas and diesel, 4 with loaders. I can move a lot of stuff, but I'm just slightly tired of engines.

Actually the GEM just came up on my radar again. 72v offers lots of power.

Build your own battery with the heating pads the way you want it. I try not to buy any premade batteries any more, Unless I'm doing a convertion for somebody.
BH has some good high output cells.

and these might work for 72v (2X )
