diy solar

Greetings from Texas

Hi everyone. I've been into DIY solar as a hobby and a plan against repeated ongoing blackouts here in the Gulf Coast. I first built a 12v system with 1k panels and 600wh of battery. Now I'm onto 48v EG4 3kw with a single LL EG4 battery. I was in IT for many years as a consultant, now I'm a hospice chaplain.
Welcome Padre, good to have you aboard... some of us need some serious counseling & guidance :ROFLMAO:

I was there for Beryl with the elderly in laws. A week without power. It became pretty clear and no one was coming to help. A fan would’ve made a huge difference in that heat. I’ve got them set up now with a little system.

I was surprised at the number of nursing care homes in rural areas without jennies or backups. Our foundation is working to get generators and AC window units to those in need. It's great to hear you set them up!

this may sound stupid but how do they have a license without basic emergency backups for essential needs? I would think that some form of supplemental climate control even if its simply window a/c's and spare blankets would be required for the elderly? I mean they are basically low tier hospice/hospitals and they all have back up power etc.
