Grid tie with 120V?

Hi Folks,

I'm doing a fairly big rooftop grid-tied solar installation, and due to some unfortunate circumstances it looks like I may end up with a few extra panels. So I was thinking about building a small array (just 4 panels) out in our pasture near a greenhouse where there is a lot of sun. The problem is that the only link to the grid out there is a 120V outlet in the greenhouse. There's a buried cable (10 AWG) that goes about 275 feet out to the greenhouse, and I don't want to bury a 3 conductor line that far. Is there a problem with tying in this small array using a micro inverter (e.g. this one) that can output 120V? If I pump 120V into just one leg of the system, will there be a problem with unbalanced loads?

Thanks...

Assuming you are fine with a small "illegal" system like I am, it would be totally fine. You could even use those cheap amazon grid tie inverters. Just make sure you pay attention to open circuit panel voltage when sizing your inverters. Have fun :)
