GridBoss and 12000XP

You can, but they won't talk to each other.
Could still be used as a dumb combiner and the "smart ports" will still operate on a schedule if you program them separately.

The GridBoss was made to work with hybrid inverters and can support the 12kPV, 18kPV, & FlexBOSS21.

Could you attach it to a smartport configured as AC Coupled Input though (Assuming the inverter handles the AC sync)? Would the GB remain powered (or power up) if the only AC input was from a smart port configured as AC Coupled input?

What I'm really looking for is a cold-start option for the GB that doesn't have a FB/1xkPV installed yet but does have a generator with 2 wire. I want the GB to stay online long enough if the grid goes down to crank the generator up so I need a way to maintain power to the GB brains long enough to make that happen.

Are you referring to connecting an AC couple system to a smart port?
You would still need an inverter and batteries for this to work.

Ah okay, so does it only get system power from the inverter inputs, grid, and generator? Any plans on future variants to include provisions for a small backup battery to keep the GB alive if all the AC goes down?
