Grounding a non-tie-in inverter to a 110 outlet

Is it sane to gound an inverter to a 110 outlet?
It's in an apartment building if that is of any consideration.

I'm thinking about running a wire from the inverter's ground lug to a replacement plug.

I believe it is better to keep the ground isolated. Same as a portable gasoline generator... nobody is driving a ground rod at every stop.
The added ground can create and additional fault path. Possibly run the power through a GFCI if not part of the inverter output.

Is something like this what you are talking about? My inverter does not have a terminal block.
