GroWatt Monitoring Address/Site

For those who use GroWatt's online monitoring setup here in the US... I went to this URL ( https://www.growatt-america.com/ ) and attempted the login. It stated that For a BETTER BROWSING EXPERIENCE WE HAVE ASSIGNED YOU A NEW ADDRESS: http://server-us.growatt.com .
Not sure why I would be paranoid about a Chinese company forwarding me to a non Encrypted URL to LOG IN. But what is going on with this?? The MAIN PAGE is ENCRYPTED but when I want to log into my account that is not? Hmm.. So is it that the Growatt Wifi, which has access to my local network, is now a backdoor to whomever? Or Am I just Paranoid?

I wouldn't call you paranoid. At best, it's someone in IT who doesn't know what they're doing. At worst, it's what you suspect.

As an FYI, the Growatt WiFi Dongle I just received was configured to send data to the chinese servers. I could not get it to appear in my server-us.growatt.com monitoring page until I changed the config settings in the wifi dongle to go to server.-us.growatt.com and not its default server.growatt.com.

this totally worked for me!!! I put the dongle in AP mode (holding key button) until it was red/green, then connected via the AP and password 12345678, and set the server name to server-us.growatt.com, *then* configuring the wifi tab with the password, restart and boom the key light blinks blue and i start seeing data in the shinephone app. the app seems to be pointed at the correct US server out of the box. also going to us-server.growatt.com for the web login gives me the correct data. I cannot get the shinephone app to configure the dongle wifi at all, but I was able to create an account and scan the barcode. now I have working data! thanks for the tip on the server.
