Technically this is not a solar item. Also, I have no financial interest in this product.

I picked this up on a whim. Basically it is a battery powered motion activated light. There are many versions out there. I am currently using it in the area where I am top balancing my batteries. As I step into the area, the light turns on. When I leave it turns off automatically.

I initially placed it on a table top in the area as I considered where to install it. I was surprised how the additional light provided helps me as I adjust wires and bus bars during the balancing process.

THe motion sensing lights seem like A great idea.

I noticed that was run off four throw away AA batteries. I thought about how I would use his for my RV, and I found a motion sensor that was 12 VDC/24VDC that could be hooked to somethign else that could turn on a different device for an adjustable amount of time:

I have a 24 VDC system that I add to and found a 12 VDC motion sensing light, but not 24 VDC.

I bought one of those a few days ago. Planning to use it in some RV compartments with LED strip lights.

I’d like to hear how it goes. Would be nice to see a new thread after the project is done. I’m sure motion sensing is here somewhere in this site, but had never even thought motion sensors were practical for DC until I saw this thread. I would have put something in for my build when I first started. For now, it‘ll get added to the “To Do Bin, but probably won’t do.”

Says the batteries last an average 3 months. Has anyone seen a rechargeable 18650 version?
