Hello folks new here.

Figured I better say hi and mention I dismissed solar power years ago due to my low 12 cents per kWh price and the lack of solar resource here Iowa. The calc I used almost tripled my kWh price which really turned me off, and I'm also unclear if my new bug out retirement property which is supplied by Alliance power offers net metering.. I still live in town presently and rent the bug out property to me GF.

Anyway, I used to work HVAC for 17 years, then worked at the U of I chilled water plant for 20 and then my job was auctioned away to the highest bidder and now I work as a maintenance man in the dorms. Same pay but a step backwards imo, but I should be happy I'm still working and strengthening my immune system working and eating around all the students.. Not to mention riding the bus to and from work daily..

Anyway, thanks for having me and maybe I overlooked something years ago, or prices have come down low enough for me to be interested..

Welcome to the forum!!!!

Prices have gone down for solar a *lot* over the past several years....meanwhile the price of power has gone up in most (all?) places. A lot of people are finding that solar is cost effective even if there is no net-metering.

As you explore your options, be sure to ask lots of questions and tell us your experience!
