Howdy, y'all!

Been a solar fangirl for some time now, primarily while stealth camping in the states. Since I'm stuck here on an island, I am looking to take what I've learned and will learn to help my family live comfortably.

The system we have currently, which was installed prior to my coming here, is:
  • 2p 300w solar panels
  • an unknown charge controller... I think it's 12v
  • 2s2p flooded lead-acid battery (12v 450a)
  • 1500 w PSW inverter
Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone!

Ever wondered how much power two 300W panels would
generate per day on average?

Here's some math....

From the NREL solar insolation map, Haiti is around 6.0, so
on average throughout the year two 300W panels would generate 2 x 300 x 6.0 = 3600 Wh/d.

Since you got them with the house, they're probably older, let's say they loose .65% per year. So, if they were 10 years old that would 100% - 10 x .65 = 93.5%, or 93.5% of 300W = 280.5W. So, 280.5 x 2 x 6.0 = 3366 Wh/d.

So, that's a rough idea of what you have now. @FilterGuy 's spreadsheet can help you figure out how much you need. Lot's more in the FAQs and of course tons of people online to help with any questions you have.

Hope to see photos of your setup!
