Hey everyone,
I'm off-grid north of 60 in Canada and will be posting soon in the newbie section for help figuring out my system, hopefully y'all oblige! I'm taking Will's RV alternator charging system which uses the DCC50s charge controller (https://www.mobile-solarpower.com/simplified-400-watt-fewer-wires-and-alternator-charging.html):
and putting it into a cabin, using two bus batteries as the "starter batteries" (to jump start vehicles and have them return the charge while they warm up, and to run an inverter to a shop) as well as deep-cycle batteries for the cabin, and generator tie in (dark winters). I figure the other thing about the set up is I'll be able to get power from a vehicle if it's so cold that's all I can get to start, and in the first place I'll have two bus batteries as backup power if during a cold snap in the dark part of winter. If you can't tell I'm trying to build some redundancy into the system!
