State of Confusion
Hello all, long time no post.
New Sungoldpower system.
I would appreciate any and all helping with programming or suggestions on this new battery backup system.
I live in a state of confusion with a Edison grid tied solar system installed in 2015 / no battery backup. Solaredge 36 panels 7800 watt.
Since that time Edison had implemented many fees and costs for energy transfer into and back from the grid. So much so that most of the savings have dwindled away.

After discussing the issue with a couple of new solar companies Who were more than willing to set me up with battery backup to my current system, all got up and ran out the door as soon as I mentioned the word off-grid. At that point I had some kind of an epiphany that although edison and california solar companies have tight control over my main panel, what I do with my subpanel is none of their business.

The idea is to run the sub panel using an inverter with battery backup 24/7 Utilizing the bypass switch. Charging the system during solar max 10am-4pm. Then going on battery back up the remainder of the time till the next morning. Currently I Have no solar panels hooked to the system only a 30 amp input from the main system which is tied to the solar system and Edison.

I would like to set the inverter to only charge the batteries during solar max and avoid sending all that current back in the grid, Edison charges for every watt in and out. Essentially creating my own off grid system within an ongrid house.

I appear to have just enough knowledge to get myself in real trouble like causing a fire, blowing up the batteries, burning down my house. Any of those scenarios I would prefer to avoid at this time.

So I put out this call for help programming the inverter and setting the correct charging for the battery rack.

The New system is ..
1 Sungoldpower inverter 6500 48v
4 Sungoldpower 48v 100ah batteries hooked in parallel. Wiring is not complete but will be soon, figured I would ask for help before the final hookup.
Picture reference below

I apologize if this information can be found in any previous posts but ANY and all help or suggestions to make this work is GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks to all and I hope the lessons I learn will help others in my similar situation.

I have the same Sungold inverter/battery setup. All you have to do is change setup item 14 "battery type" from AGM to USE, and the inverter will take care of all the charging parameters. Sungold said to use the "PYL" setting, but all that did was set a fault in the inverter. To use the system as I do, I ran one line from the main panel breaker to a 60 amp electronic pool pump timer then to the inverter thru a 60 amp breaker in a subpanel box for "AC IN". I set the timer to go off at 4pm and back on at 4am, so I avoid Edison's 74 cents/kwh charges from 4 to 9pm. The inverter "AC OUT" goes to the subpanel where I relocated all my load breakers. And that is all. Draw from Edison is automatically reduced when the solar panels kick in. Cheers!
