Hello everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Powland SMG-III inverter, and I’m hoping someone here can help.
I’m experiencing an issue with my Powland SMG-III inverter, and I’m hoping someone here can help.
The Problem:
The AC icon on the inverter starts flashing intermittently, and when it does, I cannot manually or automatically switch the mode to SUB. This prevents the scheduler function from switching to Utility mode during the night to recharge the battery.Observations:
- The issue seems directly related to the input voltage.
- When the grid voltage reaches or exceeds 240V, the AC icon starts flashing. Once the voltage drops below 240V, the problem resolves itself.
- I noticed that adding a load to the grid temporarily drops the voltage to acceptable levels, and the inverter functions normally again.
Context:
- I understand that EU power regulations allow voltage levels up to 253V, so the grid voltage is technically within the allowed range.
- Unfortunately, the inverter has no settings to adjust the input voltage range, so I can't configure it to handle higher voltages.
Questions:
- Firmware Update: Does anyone know if there’s a firmware update available that might expand the acceptable input voltage range or address this issue?
- DIY Firmware Mod: Has anyone successfully edited the firmware of this inverter or a similar model to increase the input voltage limit? If so, I’d appreciate guidance or resources to explore this option.
- Alternative Solutions: Apart from adding load or using a voltage stabilizer, are there any other practical solutions for handling this issue?
Additional Details:
- The issue occurs most frequently when the grid voltage approaches 240–253V.
- I don’t have any other known issues with the inverter.
