Hi all
I am located in Manchester, UK and I'm planning to install solar panels, soon. The roof is too good not to use it.

At the moment I am replacing heating system in my house
I planned to install a new hot water tank, and one of the pros I was counting on is money saving through using excess solar energy to heat the water.
But I realised that I can sell the electricity for 5.5kWh and buy gas fo 3.67 (2.95@80% efficiency) it doesn't really make sense.
This means that installing hot water tank (I need to get a new one) doesn't make sense too.

Did I miss something in the thinking?
Would you spend £500-£700 on the tank just to have an energy buffer (and hot water recirculation, but its comfort not economy)?

I would wait until panels are installed and see if there is excess power.
