If I have this in the wrong thread, please correct me.

12-31-24 Our house burned.
Turns out the people that put the electrical in the house put a staple through one of the wires and it finally shorted and caught on fire. I love the way everyone wants to sue or hold somebody accountable. BUT, good luck finding the person that did the electrical in 1972. Or how people think that an insurance company will replace everything. They only replace up to the amount you are insured for.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I had 28 panels on the roof with IQ Gateway and IQ6 microinverters. Mission Solar Energy Mse300sq5t panels 300w. Some of my panels were destroyed and some were not. I watched different videos where people showed you can not mix panels.
1. First Question, Can you mix panels if you use micro inverters.
2. If I use microinverters, is it plug and play?

3. If I upgrade to better panels, what should I upgrade to?
4. I have about 6+ panels that get shade from the trees. I really don't have space to move the panels, But I could move them to the side of the house that is still about 10 feet up off the ground and make an awning above a window, using the panel. Is this in code in Dallas Texas?
5. I use the Enlighten App on the phone. I have called companies in the past to upgrade my app and system but they keep sending me back to the original company. Or they want to put in a whole new system. What if I don't want to use the original company to update my system and to update my Enlighten app? I am almost out of Warranty and I am pretty sure the house fire voided any product warranty I might have had left.

Bottom line, Since the panels have to come off to take the roof off. I would like to upgrade my system.

Thanks,

Should I pull this system and use it on a friends storage/barn and just put a whole new system on my house? A new system might not happen because of cost. Since cost of rebuilding, materials and labor, has gone up so much.

My thoughts are when using micro inverter, neither need to be matched, it's one mppt per panel, each panel operates as a single entity.

The only reason you would need to match panels is if you are trying to meet codes/regulations in your area.

... or if it's a dual or quad micro. Best look around. Enphase may no longer be powerful enough for today's panels.

First of all terribly sorry for your loss, I can't imagine.
This is probably the best time to scrounge what you can off the old system to play with but put a new system in with modern panels, inverters and you can now do battery backup.
Of course you will get the Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Japanese arguments all day long but I love my EG4 inverters and batteries, they run my whole Florida house 100% off grid.
