How should I troubleshoot a Pytes V5 battery pack?

I've been trying to learn about lithium battery packs. There's a lot of info on the forum, but I'm still not completely familiar on working with them. I have been using FLA batteries and fairly small solar systems for 20 years.

Do the exterior terminals of a Pytes V5 battery faithfully represent the voltage of that battery pack even if it is turned off and not connected to anything?

i bought a SolArk 12 and three Pytes V5 48v 100ah batteries in January. I had intended to install the system after building a shed for it, but fate intervened and it's been in storage 20 miles away.

The Pytes docs say that the batteries should be charged to 90% capacity every 6 months when in storage. i admit that I didn't.

The docs also say the self discharge rate is 1 or 2% per month.

So last week I finally opened one of the boxes and measured the voltage on the external terminals. It was 0.192 volts. Is that as bad news as I think it is?

I don't yet understand how to troubleshoot these batteries.

I've ordered a 0-60vdc bench power supply. I'm sure that it will be handy eventually if not immediately.

How do I properly troubleshoot these Pytes V5 batteries? Thanks in advance!

So I take it that my question is really dumb and that the answer is

Yes, that's how you measure the voltage on a Pytes V5 battery?

Sorry that my question is so dumb, but I've never delt with a battery that you have to turn on.

Battery bms is probably in a safety mode, minimal voltage to terminals. Put some voltage to the battery and it should wake up.

I did try to turn it on the day i measured it. The green bar grew until it was fully across the display, then it shut down and everything was dark again.
I didn't notice what other status alerts may have come on. Thank you.

Thank you for responding to my dumb question. Also thanks for the RTFM reminder, which I deserved.

I did look at the manual for the startup and shutdown procedures, but I didn't spend enough time with the troubleshooting chart, which was lazy and dumb considering I was concerned about the pack's status.

Today I did spend more RTFM time and was able to test my 3 Pytes V5 packs. After turning a pack on, it went into stand-by mode. That happened for all 3 packs.

They all read 52.7 volts. So they're not fully charged, but not dead either.

The docs don't say it, but I believe these are 16s batteries, so that gives an average of 3.29v for the cells.

I bought a 0-60vdc 5a power supply for wake up voltage, but apparently didn't need it.

Thanks again for the appropriate help.
:-)
