How to reduce cable size for connector?

I thought there was a part you can get to reduce large cable size ends to a smaller one so they'd fit in a terminal but can't remember what they are called. I may need to use 3/0 or 4/0 aluminum cables for AC distribution (hundreds of feet) to reduce voltage loss and load center only accepts 2/0.

Woah.. the aluminum one to go from 3/0 to 1/0 which I would have to use since the copper reducer is for copper only is $44/ea!

I take it that cutting a few of the individual strands so it fits does not meet code?

I'm curious of the size difference between the 2 wires --those Greeves connectors appear to just be a special Lug

Ok.. It appears it is even code acceptable to have a splice for the feeder in your service panel so I can use these for only $6 each! ?
