How to Replace a cell 48v 32 cell LifePo4

A few years ago I built a 48v battery with 32 cells. I am having an issue with one or two cells in that bank, it's in 2p16s and I'm using the REC Q1 BMS.

I am going to pull it all apart and top balance it again but if I need to replace two cells in that battery bank do I need the exact same cell? I talked to the seller and they no longer stock the ones I purchased.

Does anyone have a suggestion on replacing them if I need to?

They are

3.2V 280Ah that I purchased from Xuba. Maybe the seller screwed me, not sure yet. Can I order a couple from Amazon, anyone with a link that could help out?

Thanks

280 Ah cells are still available but many vendors are only selling the larger Ah cells. I bought a set of 280 Ah cells last July. Contact Amy at Shenzhen Luyuan Technology.

Get cells that are as close to the same as what you have. Matching the physical size is probably more important than matching the Ah.

Worst case, break up the known good cells into a 1p16s battery and then create a second battery with all new cells.

As mentioned already by KRTKD the physical size is probably most important.
You can even use 314Ah higher capacity cells on purpose. Your total pack capacity is determined by weakest cell in series but having one higher capacity one won't do much harm (other than you lose 5$ worth of unused capacity on that particular cell)

Oh, that's interesting. I will check to see what the size is and see where I can order one from. Do you know of any that are located in the USA?

My USA-knowledge is a bit limited as I live on the other side of the pond.
(Finland to be more exact)

For your situation, you don’t have to get the exact same 3.2V 280Ah cells, but it’s best to match the chemistry (LiFePO4) and capacity as close as possible to keep your 2P16S setup balanced. I’ve bought cells from Docan a few times myself—started with single cells, then grabbed a full battery pack later. Both have been running great for me!
