Hello,
I have completer weather station from Davis and it also includes Solar Radiation Sensor (pyranometer).

I am confused with installation of pyranometer .

How do I install Pyranometer, shall I install straight horizontal or should I install at the same angle as Solar panels.

I guess, if I install horizontal flat, then it would measure GHI, in that case I need to convert GHI to PoA, which I do not know how to convert.
For PR calculation, which one is better method?
Horizontal or same as Panel angle?

Please suggest and help.

Thanks
Sanket

"Pyranometers must also account for the angle of the solar radiation, which is referred to as the cosine response."

They should be mounted level. (the one in the photo actually has a 360 bubble level on it)

Ok, because many installers are installing Pyranometers at solar panel angle as shown in below pic.
If I install flat horizontal then it will be reporting GHI and not the PoA.
To calculate PR I need PoA, if I am not wrong.

Hmmm.... as the goal is to know the irradiance/m2 the panels see... I'd think you'd want to mount them at the same tilt as the panels. You can always write the manufacturer and ask, if you do let us know what they say.
