Hybrid 24K w/PV or two 12K higher SEER2 on AC?

The EG4 24K hybrid heat pump has a SEER2 of 21 while the 12K AC only has a SEER2 of 28.5. I think there is a good case to be made favoring using two 12K AC only mini splits. During the spring and fall periods where there is no need for heating or cooling having 6-8 unused solar panels makes no sense. Having the same panels either make AC, charge batteries, or export power year-round would have a fairly quick ROI. Having two 12K mini splits would also give improved air distribution, provide redundancy, and the 12K can run off of a non-dedicated 120V circuit. Using two hybrid 12K is far less efficient with a SEER2 of 22.
This is a decision I will make this week.

SEER= seasonal efficiency ratio= higher the SEER the higher the efficiency. Previous SEER ratings have been obsoleted by the new SEER2 rating.

If you know this, then you should know the significance of EER/EER2. The problem with SEER/2 is the S... "Seasonal". It's not a clear testable standard where one can compare two different units.

EER/2 is a specific load in specific conditions.

I've seen mini-splits with near identical EER/2 values, but one's SEER/2 value is 50% higher than the other.

If you don't need the heating, then something designed for ac only can be designed more efficiently for that use case. If you want the heating, then you accept the compromises for a single unit.

I am buying the 24K from Signature Solar tomorrow. That will save me 5% off (-$1,020.40) of the $20,408. EP Cube 15.2KW 39.6KWH I will also buy. In the end, the EP Cube less the $1,020.40 5% discount, less the Calif. SGIP battery rebate of -$7,920., less the 30% Fed. deduction of -$5,816 means I actually end up paying $5,651. for the entire EP Cube system including free shipping on everything. A no brainer opportunity.
