Looks like they are selling the farm, 😭 so thanks for the comments. Going to archive it for now.

Hello All,
I'm living on a farm with an existing 40 year old small hydroelectric dam, off grid Water turbine system, that at original efficiency, operates at 50 kW 230v. I need to get more details from the current electrician that was nursing this system the last few years. Once that happens i can add more detail to this post.
It has a partially debris occluded and grated inlet on a portion of the properties river. This is in Iceland and it always has water, though at times it may freeze, but thats infrequent over the last few years.

We will eventually add a solar solution to the existing system, which is running below capacity, between 130-150v and 15-20 kW with surging. Most newer Electronics are partially protected through UPS systems and small single 12v battery with 230v inverter.

Before we add the solar we want to install a Deep Cycle battery bank (AGM Yuasa batteries possibly) in the basement next to the main electric input and existing transformer and transfer switch for a 25kW Diesel generator. It was installed poorly and needs a serious Overhaul.
We hope this will to create a steady output for existing equipment and electronics. Further detail will be available as I evaluate the existing electrical systems and speak to people how have maintained the system.

Ill attach files as they are available.

Thanks PapaBrad

No idea about the batteries they sell but a lot of their Diesel Gens are Hyundai which do not have a good reliability reputation in the UK.

Iceland. Temperature.
If indoors, heating is plentiful in Iceland, winter temps shouldn’t be an issue.

Even if outdoors, dig down a few feet and the ground is mighty toasty.

The 24hrs of darkness for a month or so, now that’s a much larger issue. On the flip side that also means 24hr of summer sun!
