I has been a little while since I last visited this place...

I have purchased 6, 250w panels. So now I am looking for recommendations for a mount for a trapezoidal metal roof. I would like to avoid putting holes in the roof if possible but i don't think is avoidable due to this trapezoidal roof on my shop.

One of the first mount that I have came across so far has what looks like a rubber gasket to help keep the roof sealed up.. Is there any additional sealant that I should get to also help safeguard against the roof from leaking? It may not be needed, but I like the peace of mind as an additional precaution...

I am going to use 2, 20 foot, sections of unistrut to hold the panes to the roof mounts.

Side question... Is the EPever brand of solar charge controller any good? or should I look at Victron?

There will always be need for direct connections to the roof trusses for any listed ( PE will sign off on ) mounting system, this means, yes there are hole drilled thru the covering and deck for secure connections. While many in non permitted , DYI use unistrut for racking, its what those with permits use.

I recommend you look at ironridge site for details

@Solar Guppy
I figured as much but i thought i would ask. I saw some clamp style that were for metal roofs with standing seams but figured that it was unavoidable for the trapezoidal metal roof. I figured I would ask as a just in case there was one that I hadn't come across.

My plan is to use... DIY with unistrut unless I can find other options at local stores and at the same or less cost than unistrut... Lowes, Home Depot, Electrical store...

That link you provided... There is a lot there. Do you have an area to focus on? I am presuming the Pitched Roof Documents and Resources...

it screws to the panel and does not penetrate the roof.
its mounted on the rib so you wont have leaks

also, why use unitstrut when iron ridge rails are just as cheap?

That bracket on S5's site clearly shows 4 screws are need to secure it to the metal roof...

Well, if they are... It's an hour drive (with a trailer) to get to Austin so I could get them. As that is what Iron Ridges website shows to be the closest distributor for me...

I also already have 2, 10 foot, sticks of unistrut from a project about 3 years ago but I am not against getting a different product... If my hopes (and dreams...) come to, I do plan to expand the solar setup to make the 740 sq foot shop be off the grid so i am not againt using diffrent rails. On another note, I also feel that unistrut is pretty versatile for mickey mouse engineering... ... ...

Use aluminum racking designed for panels. I've used ironridge but I'm sure there are other good ones. I have to imagine that unistrut will bleed orange lines down your roof at some point.

Has anyone used both Mazebracket trapezoidal and S-5 w/ PVKit 2.0?
The Magebracket setup is cheaper but perhaps not worth the savings?

Curious as to people’s thoughts and experiences.
