installed a deisel heater in van.was wondering

if it was possible to tap in to the exhaust heat to power a generator to recharge LF.
any thoughts?
that heater works very well by the way.

The little I looked into this, I could not find anything useful. FOr turning heat directly into electricity was like an oxygen sensor on a catalytic coverter. A small electric signal of less than a volt, probably with little power, kind of like trying to charge a cell phone with a lemon.

Hope there’s a lot I’m missing.

Thermoelectric generators is the thing to plug into Google. There's lots of info out there and I'm sure it could be adapted to using waste heat from the exhaust. Probably the biggest issue will be getting a heat exchanger that can handle the exhaust gases themselves and not crumble. If there is a heap of very hot exhaust it's probably an indicator that the heater itself isn't doing such a good job at putting the heat into the room you are trying to heat, which might be something to think about ...
