@Epoch Support

"Engineered in the USA" what exactly was engineered the color pallet of the case?🤭

The golf cart battery also looks to be a topband battery:

ok epoch website it is listed this way:

Anyone has links to these on Alibaba so I can compare prices to see the premium epoch has added to them?

I was hoping now that they been out awhile, I might find some info on the Epoch 300ah Essentials. seems you can find them for 999 now. I like to see the inside of one of these. anyone seen any real-world test on these?

We have a the 300ah in now available. The v2 is discontinued. As for the essentials they are great batteries they only lack some of the features.

Can you tell us what changes will be to the Epoch 12v 460ah V2 shown as pre-order on the Epoch website?

So, I just received an Epoch 12v 460Ah today. I was pretty excited about it showing up. I read the "Important Notice" that comes at the top of the packaging as I am opening it and whaddya know...Bluetooth is not built into the battery! No, I have to have this mess of wires connected if I want bluetooth! It is built into the battery guage it would seem. This sure would have been nice to know before I bought it! Not off to the start I was hoping for.

I followed THEIR directions included with the battery which clearly showed the SOC gauge/BT X-mitter being plugged into the port on the right as you look at the battery from the end. This did not work. It did end up working when I tried the other port.

I did the firmware update per the instructions included with the battery...again WRONG! The update would reach about 60%, then just freeze. I found a youtube video showing how to correctly update the firmware and was able to accomplish that, but those instructions were completely different than the instructions sitting on top of the battery staring you in the face as you open the package.

However, that is not my main issue. Before I bought this battery I compared the measurements of the battery to the space I had available. I determined that if I dismounted my Victron inverter, changed some cable routing, moved the inverter to the left about 1.5" I would be able to fit this battery into the space I had with about 1/8" remaining. It's gonna be tight, but totally doable. Now I find out that I have no BT comms without that cable plugged into the end adding about 1" to the length of the battery. I'm pissed they didn't spell this out! This has to be the ONLY LFP battery on the market that doesn't have built in BT! WTF??

Another bit of info I discovered that is at least worth mentioning: the battery will not accept a charge current under about 3A. I am using a small battery charger that has what is essentially a power supply option. It supplies 3A @ a constant 14V. When connected to the battery charger it shows a 1.5A current flow into the battery for under a minute, then just stops taking current. I have not messed with it enough to find the magic lowest current flow it will accept, but 3.5A has been flowing into the battery without issue. I can't for the life of me come up with a good reason to have your BMS limit the lowest amount of current flow it will accept. Low current flow into the battery does not harm LFP chemistry. If my panels are supplying 10A and 8A are being used by loads, I sure as hell want those last 2A going into my battery!

I’ve been planning on buying 2 of these batteries, they appear to be the best build quality in class.
But their recent downgrade in continuous discharge amp rate, things pointed out above, and a recent response to questions I asked has me looking at other 460ah offerings.

Not having the bt internal seems a bit odd, I wonder what the reasoning is.

I'm honestly a little pissed about the BT issue not being brought up, especially when it adds to the published dimensions. I need to go watch Will's video review on this battery again and see if he brings it up.
