Jackery 5000+ doesn't see a second Jackery battery?

Newbie question about Jackery 5000+. Bought a Costco Whole House Kit, which included a second Jackery battery. The inverter finally topped itself off. I tried to connect the battery to the inverter.
The directions are sparse: Turn off the inverter and the battery. Plug in the cable and set the little lock tabs. Turned the inverter on. The charge indicator on the battery lit up, indicating some level of communication (?) but the main unit never saw the battery. An icon is supposed to light up on the main unit's control panel indicating the battery is connected. That never happened. Repeated the steps several times. No icon.

Thank you

I saw this cool trick to using a secondary battery with power stations like the Jackery, by hooking them up to the solar panel connection. Try that and tell me how it goes.

Did you try Jackery Support?

Hey, good morning.
I know the inverter has a low-temp shutoff because we ran into that the other day. Not at 15 deg like the manual said. At about 28 deg or thereabouts.
Do the Jackery battery boxes also have a low-temp cut-out?
Reason why I ask is we had no luck connecting the spare battery to the inverter when we were outside in 30 deg weather. I brought everything inside. An hour later tried connecting the spare battery to the inverter and the little icon lit up, showing one battery attached.
This morning we put everything outside again. The inverter saw the spare battery and is charging it.
So, thanks for everyone's input. Whatever was hanging us up yesterday seems to have gone away for now.

I have a 2000 Plus and find it is very finicky about how the expansion battery is connected. In my case, I have to disconnect all inputs and outputs from both units, then connect expansion cable to port A, then connect to port B on expansion battery, then turn on the power on the Explorer 2000 Plus which powers on both units. The expansion icon should be lit on main display and show up when you scroll down in the app. Then you can attach your inputs and outputs. If this still doesn’t work, you should reset your main controller. On the 2000 Plus that is done by depressing both the power on switch and the A/C output switch simultaneously for 3 seconds. Good luck!

Thanks, Johnny -
I had the same experience again a day ago. The inverter didn't see the battery. I'd unplugged the two Jackery solar panels and pushed some buttons before trying to connect the battery.
So this time I shut it down entirely and walked away for 20 minutes. Then connected just the spare battery. Waited a few before reconnecting the panels. Everything went as it should.
I don't have to understand the exact reasons it did or didn't work as long as it works...

I have found Jackery Support to be flaky. I was using email and they weren't very communicative. I'll try calling Support if I have to
