JBD BMS relay clicking

Hi all,

Have a lifepo4 16s battery that I built for my golf cart. I had a cheap BMS on it that started acting up so I recently put on a JBD 300a.bms that I got from batter hook up. I am using the overkill solar app and everything is reading correctly but when I turn on the golf cart the relay on the BMS just keeps clicking on and off continuously. I suspect it is a setting in the app but I'm not sure what would be doing it. There was a warning that fet software locked. Any help is much appreciated.

There is a mosfet time setting that will make it do this, sorry I cannot remember the specifics but I know it's been mentioned here before.

Fet software lock, means either the charge or discharge mosfets are turned off, at the top of the app both of them should be slid to the right and the slider should be gold, and the fet software lock message should be gone

I was able to get the lock message to clear but the relay is still constantly clicking under load

Why would it have a relay and FETs? Suspect the app is not for the version of BMS you have?

Someone here mentioned that the overkill app does not work properly with the contactor based JBD BMS. Which sucks, because it is a nicer app than the xioxiang app.

That's good to know, I will have to try the other app but I prefer the overkill app

In the xioxiang app, go to parameter view and scroll down about 2/3 of the way, select Mos control time and set it to 16959... At least that's what mine is set to.
You will not find it under the parameter setting page only the view page.
Yeah for some reason the overkill app sets this to zero and the relay clicks like crazy.

Finally getting a chance to try this but unfortunately my app does not have mos control time as an option. What am I missing or am I in the wrong app?

figured it out, I was looking in the parameter set not view. Made the adjustments and it's working normally. Now I just need to make sure it charges up correctly and I think I'm good to go. Thanks for the help!

Can you show me a screenshot of where you found it? I'm having the same issue and can't find where to change the setting

I am also facing the same issue. Can you pks guide how to get rid of this "relay getting continuously on and off sould"

Well crap I have the same BMS and I changed some settings with the Overkill app, so should I now have the same issue? I don’t have my inverter wired yet, but I did test my bank with a 48V light bulb and there was no clicking (just the single click).

So honestly I didn’t want to touch that xioxiang app because I’m not supposed to touch sketch Chinese apps with my work phone, but maybe I’ll dust off an old tablet or something.

Was this only happening when you were trying to use inverter communication in your other thread?

I think you'll be fine. I've use the overkill app on mine, as well as the xio app, with no issues.

Do you have same type of BMS? It's the AP21S002, there's a 200A and 300A version of the same model. I also bought mine from Battery Hookup like the OP so we probably have the same revision and model. I've got a couple old tablets laying around, I'm going to put the Xioxiang app on one and double check that setting.

Yes. I have 3 of the 200A and 1 300A.
Mine came from their aliexpress store and Docan but they are the same model.
You can get the USB adapter for it from Battery Hookup and use the PC software as well.

My issue was resolved by changing MoS setting in xiaxiang App..

👍👍👍

Ok confirmed with the Xiaxiang app that my mos control time is set to 65000 and not 0. Thanks!

I have the same issue with the overkill solar app and the JBD BMS from Battery Hookup where the relay clicks. For me, it only clicks when the current draw is less than 2amps.

I downloaded the Xiaoxiang app and went to parameters, but I don't see anything editable. What version of the app is needed to change the mos control time? The version i downloaded from the play store (today) is V3.2.052

I've been using the overkill app from the play store. I thought (based on this thread) the overkill app is what causes the clicking. The Overkill app sets the mosfet timer to 0.

Just downloaded the app from the link. Headed to the shed to see if it works! (It seems like the clicking is faster than it was yesterday.)
Cant be good for the BMS hardware to click 24/7!

It worked! The full app has 3x the features of whats available on the play store. It is buggy though. Loading a screen sometimes ends in a blank white screen. It gets to 36% loading parameters then just stops. I had to close and restart the app a few times to get to the mosfet timer to change it.

So question > Does this mean I can never use the overkill app for this BMS as it will change the mosfet timer back to 0??
The overkill solar app seems superior in every way except this bug with the mosfet timer....
