This has been discussed a number of times. I have watched videos which talk about the use of a cable to usb adaptor, using the orange and orange white wires for the the positions on the adaptor.

I have watched videos, attached the unit and checked and rechecked the connections. Alas the computer application is not seeing the inverter.

Any suggestions?

Did you buy the usb adapter that was recommended?

Actually I am currently in communications with Amy Wan of Luyan. It seems JK actually has their own adapter and it goes for about $10. In the meantime I did find one on Amazon that worked for me. I consider it a temporary solution since I don't have a great deal of confidence trusting a system to two tiny wires attached by simple screw clamps even if the unit is stationary.

Do you have a manual of the JK BMS Inverter (is this a BMS, Inverter or BMS to Inverter issue) and does it provide a pinout of the RJ45 jacks. Orange/white and Orange are pins 1 &2 for a T-568B cable. Green/White and Green are pins 1&2 for a T-568A cable. You also need to know if pins 1&2 are an RS485, CAN or RS232 as this will determine the converter needed. In your situation you might have to use a different pin/wire pair which depends on the pinout of the BMS connections

Apparently the Seplos model is what I will have on order. It is a bit more robust.

So when I had the other unit, it needed a software driver to convert usb to a com port. Looks like this unit does as well if I am reading things properly. Any suggestions on a driver?

OK. Found this under properties. For me it was the CH350/Ch351 driver. Once I installed this it converted my USB to COM

Can you expand on what you ended up using? I want to connect my laptop to the JK Inverter BMS to install firmware patches and see if I can clear the error LED that is on the front panel of my battery box.

I have an RS485 to USB converter. I don't know what is necessary between it and the BMS.
